Keen to get Dave Franklin on board again in their second project, the owners of this jaw-dropping property on the Gold Coast sought out Dave's expertise to provide a clever design solution for a corner block that created distinct zones and captured the waterfront.
The Brief.

Our Design.

Turning a site constraint into a design feature, the result of Dave's design is a dynamic landscape incorporating an alfresco entertaining area, a sunken sitting area, a lawn area with an inground trampoline and a large L-shaped pool which wraps around the corner.

Cantilevered concrete steps are also cleverly used to delineate design zones, and also complement the height and stacked form seen in the structure of the modern double-story house.

A big pond leading to the front door, bridged by a concrete platform reached by ascending cantilevered concrete steps and softened by a lush surrounding of tropical plants.

The space is accented at night with up-lighting, creating an impressive front entry.

A sense of balance throughout the landscape, with a consistency in the material and plant palettes integrating the front and back spaces.

An incredible design that not only gives owners their "own little oasis", but proudly overcomes the challenges resulting from the shape of a unique corner site.
